  • Hello, let me introduce myself

My name is Giuliano Bonelli, I was born in Rome in December 1961. I have been developing and practicing my profession for a long time, after a religious and humanistic formation. I was, in fact, a consecrated priest of the Catholic Church from 1987 until 2009. Even though I left consecrated life, the desire to be close to people's hearts remained in me; and that is where my profession as a Celebrant comes from.

I have a degree in Theology from the Pontifical Lateran University and a second level Master in Anthropology from the Theological Faculty of Palermo.

  • My long experience of training in listening to people, allows me to listen to the desires of the future spouses and, together with them, organize and carry out different types of celebrations: symbolic marriages and civil unions (if delegated by the Mayor), but also anniversaries and other events both secular and religious background, allowing me to advise on the timing, music and the best way to live fully the celebration of the ceremonies you want to achieve.

In symbolic celebrations, there are no limits as to how to live the rite, whether it is purely secular or also with reference to the faith. Love then is and remains such regardless of the personal condition of the couple: whether heterosexual or belonging to the lgbtq world.

The bride and groom, through the expression of the intention to join in marriage, effectively realize the significant sign of their union.

  • The Celebrant

The Celebrant is a professional figure who is very widespread abroad but is finally growing more and more here in Italy.

The professional figure of the Celebrant is a very important task for the celebration (symbolic-humanistic) because in the preparation of the marriage rite he helps the couple who wants to get married to fully express all that springs from their hearts and thus realize their dreams in an elegant and creative way.

Empathy, the ability to listen and communication are the three qualities that must be present in the background of the professional celebrant. This ensures that both the bride and groom as well as all those present at the ceremony can experience and live a wonderful and meaningful experience that will remain in their memory for the rest of their lives.

  • The Symbolic Rite

The etymology of the term "symbol" literally means: "to put together", "to unite", "to harmonize". This therefore allows us to grasp the deep meaning of the unity, almost metaphysical, of what we want to say in this page.

In fact, much of the reality that surrounds us with which we come into contact every day: everything we think, express and indicate, needs the mediation of symbols: letters, sounds, words, symbols, images, etc.. In all these cases the human mind needs to use them to connect a tangible reality to a purely intelligible one. And it is in this vein of meaning that also fits the Symbolic Marriage in which the gestures, words, and signs chosen by the couple express in full the "spiritual" reality of love shared.

Symbolic Marriage today is becoming a widespread phenomenon especially among young couples who firmly believe in the "spiritual" value of this gesture. Some, then, also choose to combine this rite to the legal, civil or religious, when it was not possible to do so in the way that the couple feels more his own.

Those who choose to marry with the symbolic rite will not be married legally because this rite, almost always, is not officiated by a religious minister or a civil registrar or his delegate.

However, it is not a "fake" rite because the feelings that are brought into play are real and are those that drive two people to choose to live together for a lifetime.

The symbolic liturgy is full of meaning because it is the couple itself that wants to best express its union to choose the best way to do it. Whether it is purely secular or even religious (in this case not necessarily sacramental).

In mutual listening and dialogue, the Celebrant makes himself available to best realize the "vision" of those who wish to express their vows in the best way possible. Together they will choose the symbols to be lived during the liturgy and also the music that will serve as background.

What you choose then can also be inspiration for every detail of the wedding taking inspiration from the type of rite chosen and also inserting the theme in the wedding invitations and everything that can serve for the organization of the long-awaited event.

The symbolic wedding is open to all types of couples, straight or gay, because love is love!

  • Riti Caratterizzanti

  • Symbolic Characterizing Rites

Sometimes, during the celebration, some "characterizing rites" are inserted, which have the function of expressing symbolically and making visible the feelings that the spouses wish to live in their new condition of united for life.

Each of these rites has its roots in the past. They take their origin from the desire to make visible in some way an invisible and often spiritual reality. Precisely because of their meaningful nature, they have the power to express the love that drives two people to join their lives together for the rest of their days.

Some of the best known Rites are: Rite of Light; Rite of Sand; Rite of Ring Heat; Rite of Ribbons or Handfasting; Celtic Rite of Stone.

  • Anniversari

  • Anniversaries

The Symbolic Marriage is not only a phenomenon that concerns young people. In fact, even couples, now established over the years, decide to renew their promises using the symbolic rite.

It is right and sacrosanct that the great milestones of your love story are celebrated and honored with joy and great celebration.

The age of reason has been confirmed, and you move on to the age of awareness with new and formidable milestones: children will be independent, you may see your first grandchild arrive, and perhaps at some point, it will also be one of the most beautiful times for your intimacy as a couple. In this case, the symbolism of the rite will certainly be very involving because all the members of the family will be present, which in concrete terms are the sign of a true and lasting love story.

If you are also among these couples and you want to celebrate your anniversary with a beautiful and original renewal of promises, you could write your own vows and exchange romantic phrases for your 25, 50 or however many years of marriage (or any other anniversary) you want to celebrate. It will be a very intimate and touching way to say "Yes, I do" to each other again.
